If your driving license is revoked for a conditional period, you must appear in person at a municipal office and bring: – A completed application form, which you can get when you show up – Your driver's license, credit card model or valid passport If you do not have a credit card model driver's license or a valid passport, you must bring a birth certificate, health card or other suitable identification and photo ID. – Your letter regarding the revocation, which states when you are going to take the revocation test. If you have been unconditionally revoked, you must bring: – A completed application form, which you can get when you show up – Valid passport. If you do not have a valid passport, you must bring a birth certificate, health card or other suitable identification, as well as photo identification - A good-looking photo that meets the latest guidelines for a photo for a driver's license. The Danish Road Traffic Authority must then approve your application, and when they have done so, they must inform the municipality so that they can carry out the final check of the application before an appointment can be made for a driving test. Dismissed Conditionally

If you have had your driving license suspended, you will still have your driving license for three years if: – You do not commit a new traffic offense that could result in suspension. If you do, you will lose your driving license – You pass a driving test, which consists of both a theory test and a driving test. If your driving license is suspended conditionally, the police will summon you to the driving test. The police decision will state when the deadline for passing the driving test is. If your driving license was suspended in connection with drink-driving, you must take an ANT course (alcohol/drugs/traffic) before you can regain your driving license.

Rejected Unconditionally

If you have been disqualified unconditionally, you have surrendered your driving license to the police and can only get it back when the disqualification period has expired. You must also have passed a driving test to get it back. If you have been disqualified for three years or more, you can only regain your driving license for category B (ordinary car). If you had a driving license in several categories, you must take individual driving tests in these categories. You will usually receive your new driving license by mail within a few months after you have passed your driving tests.

Is it possible to regain your driving license before the disqualification expires?

If your disqualification is for a period longer than 3 years, you can bring the issue of regaining your driving license before the expiry of the disqualification period to the courts, as driving licenses can only be restored under special circumstances. The application is forwarded to the Public Prosecution Service in your police district. (Traffic Act §132)

If you have been banned from driving, you must complete special driving lessons with an approved driving instructor before taking the driving test. The driving lessons consist of four selected parts of the general education plan, which you also complete for the general driving test: – Basic rules for driving – Maneuvering on the road – Traffic behavior – Special risk conditions The lessons consist of at least 8 lessons (x45 minutes), in a theory room and at least the same number in a school bus. The lessons must also extend over 8 separate teaching days.
